Montreal is the cultural capital of Quebec and the main entry point to the province. It is also the second largest city in Canada. Rich in culture and history, Montreal has inordinate number of attractive, fashionable dressed people and a well-deserved reputation as one of the liveliest cities in North America.
Montreal’s charm lies in its old world atmosphere rather than its star attractions. The city of immigrants has managed carving out a place for itself as Quebec’s economic and cultural centre. It is friendly and is easy for getting around. The 19th century churches cuddled in the shadows of gliding modern skyscrapers. During the day, the city has a typically North American flurry, while French-speaking Montreal also retains its linguistic heritage.
The city has a notoriously arctic winters from December to March that makes it really good for winter sports, but with the sort of vindictive temperatures. Its ‘underground city’ has a unique climate-controlled labyrinth of 2000 shops and 18 miles (29 km) of corridors. This also makes the city an alluring year-round tourist drawcard, a winter wonderland during the cold season and warm, long, lazy nights in the summer.
