Winnipeg is a cosmopolitan capital of Manitoba, and is the Canada’s seventh largest city. Its blue skies and sunshine year round, its beautiful parks, its rivers, and its warm hospitality, all make it a really wonderful city. Winnipeg is the gateway to the west of Canada and is the economic social and cultural center of Manitoba.

Winnipeg is a superb travel destination for any traveler. The beautiful city grew as a center for all of the western Canada with its Trans-Canada railroad. It capitalized on this and grew to be Canada’s 3rd largest city. It is much quieter and has been exceeded by boomtowns like Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver.

There is plenty to see and enjoy in the ‘Winterpeg.’ The Royal Canadian Mint is located there and it makes both the Canadian currency and also currencies of more than a dozen other nations around the world. ‘The Forks’ is a famous shopping destination with the residents and tourists alike. It is built at ‘the fork’ where the Red and Assinibone rivers meet. It is full of shops, fruit stands and stores, much like Granville Island in Vancouver.

The lake country is only an hour away by car and it offers access to some of the world’s largest inland lakes. Winnipeg is the best experienced in summer months from the May through early September. The winters are long, cold and snowy, though you can still enjoy greatly during these months. Canada’s best display of the Christmas lights can be viewed from late November until well into January.
